Our VP, Credit Advisory, Fund Banking understands the challenges venture capital investors face in Canada. They provide customized credit solutions that aligns sales, products, risk policy and market strategies. As a strategic partner, they are engaged with the client and Relationship Managers as they manage the credit underwriting and structuring process.

What will you do?

  • Become a trusted advisor to the most exciting Venture Capital Funds in Canada, providing strategic advice and serving as a partner in their growth journey.
  • Collaborate with the Relationship Management team to understand client needs and carefully structure Capital Call and Subscription Lines, Management Company Financing, General Partner Loan Facilities and other products as appropriate to support client growth
  • Complete the analysis and documentation required for new or upsized credit transactions, perform annual renewals and ensure proper portfolio management and compliance support.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and collaboration to meet the needs of clients in a timely manner
  • Exercise good judgement and due diligence, working in collaboration with Risk Management, following risk processes and guidelines

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., finance, business, economics, engineering)
  • 7-12 years of experience in banking or financial services (ie Group Risk Management, Commercial Account Manager), or 4+ years of experience in credit underwriting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including excellent understanding of financial statements
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines
  • Interest in Venture Capital

Nice-to-have

  • Strong presentation, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Exposure to technology or life sciences ecosystem in a past role
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Accounting designation (CPA/CA/CGA/CMA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
