Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression. Housed in a purpose-built-facility in Brooklyn, the organization hosts an extended network of art and fabrication professionals and educators who work together to co-create and share artistic practices vital to the well-being of artists and the communities to which they serve. Our facilities house fabrication services, production services, production spaces, and member workshops for artisans. In 2025, PHA welcomed thousands of patrons as the building became a center for art and performance.

As Powerhouse Arts continues to grow and expand its impact, we are seeking a Visitor Services Coordinator to join our team. The Visitor Service Coordinator will be responsible for providing an excellent experience to Powerhouse Arts artists, members, and visitors. This role will support the admissions process, assist with the PHA retail shop, and address visitors' inquiries while upholding excellent customer service and ensuring a positive, welcoming experience for all visitors. This role will report to the Associate Director of Ticketing & Visitor Services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer the check-in process by greeting visitors and members, ensuring data collection via sign in sheet, and providing information about the wide range of programming and activities available.
  • Maintain security procedures and liaise with the Security and Operations teams to troubleshoot operational issues, including keycard access, elevator usage, cleaning needs, monitoring logbooks, and visitor badge issuance.
  • Support front-of-house operations for public programs and special events, including processing admission sales, attendance tracking, and answering visitor questions in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with other front-facing staff from the café, retail shop, security, and public programs to ensure every visitor is welcomed and cared for.
  • Answer and direct phone calls in a polite and friendly manner.
  • Monitor Powerhouse Arts info email and forward to the appropriate staff/department
  • Graciously lead public tours, familiarizing guests with the history of the building, the fabrication and membership facilities, and the programming.
  • Supports Powerhouse Arts' administrative duties and special projects as necessary.
  • Input fabrication client inquiries in project management software and liaise with Shop Directors, including tracking responses and following up as necessary.
  • Field project inquiries in a timely manner, responding to questions, and guiding artists to the appropriate shop/service.

  • Must be able to work in both a collaborative team environment and independently as needed.
  • Proficient in Box, Microsoft Word, and Google Suite.
  • Flexibility on evenings and weekends is required. Flexibility to adjust schedules for emergency shift coverage is expected.

Hours + Compensation: The hourly rate for this role is $22.50. We plan to hire one person for a permanent, set shift, and are also seeking additional team members (“floaters”) who can pick up shifts as needed and assist with special events. Candidates should have flexibility and availability to support a range of scheduling needs.
