This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

 

POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Berks (Wyomissing, PA) invites applications for an one-year full time non-tenure Assistant Teaching Professor beginning August 2026. This is a 36-week, full-time appointment. The position includes full benefits. Penn State Berks, a college of the Pennsylvania State University, offers the collegiality of a small college with the strength of a well-respected research university. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching courses in mechanics and other area (Cornerstone Design, Matlab for Engineers, Machine Design, Computerized Input/Output, Capstone Design and other courses). The courses are part of the 2+2 and BS in Mechanical Engineering and BS in Electromechanical Engineering Technology programs. 

  • Typically, this position carries a teaching load of twelve contacts (approximately 4 3-credit courses) per semester.

  • Penn State Berks encourages active and collaborative learning, including undergraduate research, and a commitment to supporting diverse learners in the classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants are required to have at least earned a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the employment start date. A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field with some industry experience by the employment start date is preferred.
