Summary of Job Duties:

The Visiting Instructor of Chemistry will be responsible for teaching undergraduate level courses in Chemistry. We are seeking applicants interested in teaching undergraduate freshman and sophomore level Chemistry classes, including laboratories. This is a nine-month non-tenure track position and governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate degree (MS or MA) in Chemistry.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Doctorate in Chemistry. Teaching experience at the College or University level.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate sophomore and freshman level Chemistry classes, including laboratories;

  • Implement teaching strategies focusing on student success and retention;

  • Curriculum development and implementation;

  • Participation in outreach activities;

  • Service activities to the program, school, college, university, and community;

  • Student advising;

  • Performs other duties relevant to the position as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Committed to students’ success as indicated by prior teaching experience and/or mentoring and supervisory experience of employees;

  • Expertise in Chemistry topics;

  • Knowledge of teaching laboratory equipment and Chemistry laboratory practices;

  • Knowledge and use of best-teaching and safety practices;

  • Ability to develop course materials and teach in a hybrid or online platform as needed;

  • Ability to use various computer software programs (e.g. Gmail, BlackBoard, MSWord, and Excel).
