VIP Interiors Mechanic I

Summary

The Entry‑Level Aircraft VIP Interior Mechanic assists in the installation, removal, and repair of aircraft cabin interiors for VIP and executive aircraft. Assists with materials, components, and parts required for production, maintenance, or project work are sourced, tracked, and delivered on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist senior mechanics with installing, fitting, and removing interior components such as panels, seats, cabinets, carpets, and trim.
  • Support preparation tasks including surface protection, tool setup, part staging, and basic assembly.
  • Learn to read and follow simple work instructions, technical drawings, and shop paperwork.
  • Perform basic drilling, fastening, measuring, and layout tasks under supervision.
  • Help with disassembly and reassembly of interior components for inspections or repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures.
  • Document work is performed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high‑quality fit and finish of VIP interiors.

Competencies

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Mechanical aptitude with experience in trades such as carpentry, automotive, cabinetmaking, upholstery, or similar fields.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn craftsmanship skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work well in a team environment.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification

High School education or equivalent.  Two years of applicable installation, fabrication, or related experience.  Experience in aerospace industry preferred.

US Citizen Required - this position is located at a facility that requires special access. 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate in English (read, write, and verbally communicate).
  • Previous experience in aircraft interiors, woodworking, composites, or technical trades.
  • Ability to read simple blueprints or technical drawings.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to comply with DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance and ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Able to reach overhead.
  • Able to work in a non-dust-free environment.
  • Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
  • Full range of motion with both hands.
  • Ability to work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.
