The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function. We are looking for highly motivated graduates aged 18 to 28 years, who are citizens of the European Union (all E.U. nationals, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). You will join the Airworthiness Office of Airbus Helicopters in Donauwörth and become part of the H145 / BK117 or H135 / EC135 Chief Airworthiness Engineer’s (CAE) Team to support the safety of our products by managing the Certification, Qualification and initial Airworthiness activities for your program; this includes new helicopter type certification, changes to existing helicopter type certificates and flight clearances.
The Certification Qualification Engineers (CQE) within the CAE Team are part of many concurrent and transversal projects covering the complete range of Light Twin Helicopter variants. They act as focal point for the Airworthiness Authorities with whom the certification basis, certification strategy, means of compliance and authority involvement is negotiated.
The Certification Qualification Engineer is responsible to ensure demonstration of compliance to the applicable airworthiness requirements, to ensure the in-service safety of the helicopters and for leading the Certification and Qualification activities necessary to meet the development and deliveries milestones of the H145 / BK117 and H135 / EC135 program.
This results in a challenging transverse position, including negotiation internally but also with Aviation Authorities world-wide, with great responsibilities, and a good overview on our products, on our systems and on our organization.
At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

In direct contact with the Chief Engineer's team, the different key contributors from the Design Office and Support Services, as well as with the Aviation Authorities your main missions will be:
Lead the certification and qualification activities, including all associated project management tasks (e.g. planning, reporting, risk management)
Establish the certification requirement baselines and type design definitions for future evolutions of the helicopter and coordinate their harmonization
Develop and harmonize (internally/externally) the certification & qualification programs, including the identification of the Means of Compliance and associated demonstrations of compliance
Coordinate the creation and delivery of those compliance demonstrations in accordance with the general milestones provided by the Chief Engineering team
Manage the Airbus Helicopters Airworthiness network to ensure certification objectives are met
Validate those demonstrations of compliance and harmonize them with Authorities
Produce the certification and qualification synthesis documents and harmonize them with authorities
Release airworthiness documentation to the Aviation Authorities or perform approvals in accordance with Airbus Design Organization Approval (DOA)
Influence and contribute to the harmonization of the future qualification (e.g. in the frame of offers)
Obtain or contribute to the approval of flight clearance for serial and prototype flights
In addition, the position offers the opportunity to:
Be a key player for the harmonization and continuous improvement of the certification processes
Promote our Roles & Responsibilities and associated processes within Airbus Helicopter and in front of our authorities
Become authorized signatory and responsible within the design assurance system including the whole process of certification and qualification
Manage a transversal team for a given certification/qualification project
A university degree preferably in aeronautics, mechanical engineering or a similar field of study
Experience in the development of aircrafts/helicopters or aircraft/helicopter systems
Experience in the certification and qualification of aircrafts/helicopters and/or aircraft /helicopter systems
Experience in project management especially of transnational projects would be appreciated
Experience of working in international projects and collaboration in transnational teams would be a plus
You are open, pro-active and have the ability to assert yourself
You are able to communicate complex topics to others and analyze complicated situations to find the right next step
You are driven by the wish for continuous improvement and have a problem solving attitude
You are good at organizing and coordinating as well as motivating and inspiring others
You show a certain service mindedness towards the needs of our internal and external customers
English fluent is a must, good German knowledge is a plus, knowledge of French could be a plus, too
