The Video Editor plays a central role in delivering high-quality content across Virgin Media News’ output. Working closely with News Producers, Journalists and the wider Editing Team, the Video Editor is responsible for editing material for live News and Current Affairs programming, as well as supporting a range of other newsroom projects.
The role requires speed, accuracy and strong technical expertise, ensuring all content is delivered to the highest editorial and technical standards within a fast-paced broadcast environment. This position operates within a rotating shift pattern.
Edit a range of News and Current Affairs programming and content to agreed editorial and technical standards.
Support productions across Virgin Media Television, where required, including digital content.
Collaborate with Senior Video Editors, Producers and Journalists to shape high-quality video content for broadcast and social platforms.
Ensure all edited content meets technical delivery standards and complies with broadcast and legal requirements.
Manage media and archiving in line with newsroom workflows and best practice.
Troubleshoot basic technical issues within the editing environment and escalate where necessary.
Undertake additional duties as required by management.
Strong operational knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Media Central.
Understanding of iNews and NRCS workflows for live news environments.
Familiarity with newsroom, studio, and broadcast production processes.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience cutting news packages and current affairs content.
Ability to edit unsupervised while also taking direction and incorporating feedback.
Minimum 1 years’ recent experience in television production or a newsroom environment.
Experience working under pressure and to tight, often shifting deadlines.
Comfortable working in a live broadcast setting.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
An interest in news, documentaries and current affairs is highly advantageous.
The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with the business while ascertaining the key impact/detail behind the issue/request.
A team player who can lead by example and inspire others on a daily basis.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and embrace change.
A methodical approach to both daily tasks and project work.
