Video Desk Producer - Reuters Newsgathering Visuals

As a Video Desk Producer, you will play a key role in our global video news operation, delivering accurate, compelling, and timely video coverage to Reuters newsroom partners and clients around the world. Based in our Manila hub, you will work at the centre of a fast-paced breaking news environment, collaborating closely with regional bureaux and with text and pictures colleagues globally. This role requires strong editorial judgement, composure under pressure, and the ability to manage multiple priorities as stories develop in real time.

About the Role

In this opportunity as a Video Desk Producer, you will:

  • Produce and coordinate video coverage for Reuters' global newsroom and clients, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and editorially strong.

  • Work as part of a fast-paced breaking news operation, making quick and sound decisions under deadline pressure as stories develop.

  • Collaborate closely with regional bureaux and with text and pictures colleagues globally to deliver integrated, high-quality coverage.

  • Identify compelling visual angles and apply strong editorial judgement to prioritise stories and strengthen Reuters' video storytelling across multiple formats.

  • Use the latest video production tools and digital newsgathering techniques, including social media, to support efficient shooting, editing, transmitting, and sharing of content.

  • Maintain high editorial standards while working independently, managing competing priorities, and contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.

  • Work flexibly across long hours, weekend shifts, and public holidays as required in a 24/7 global news operation.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Video Desk Producer if your background includes:

  • 3-5 years of experience in journalism, ideally within a fast-paced newsroom, broadcast, or video news environment.

  • Strong news judgement, with the ability to remain calm under pressure, respond decisively to breaking news, and meet tight deadlines.

  • A sharp eye for visual storytelling, with a strong understanding of video and multimedia news production.

  • Hands-on experience with current video production technologies, including editing, transmitting, and sharing content; experience using Adobe Premiere is required.

  • Strong social media newsgathering skills, excellent English communication and writing skills, and additional Asian language skills are an advantage.

  • Ability to work independently, stay organised, and perform effectively during long hours, weekend shifts, and public holidays, often under intense pressure.

  • A collaborative mindset, strong accountability, and a genuine passion for storytelling across a range of formats and platforms.
