The Vice President will lead and manage Oaktree’s U.S. investor tax withholding function, heading a newly created Oaktree Hyderabad investor withholding tax team.

Responsibilities

The Vice President and the team will work closely with global tax leads across various jurisdictions, and Oaktree’s external tax advisors, in managing operational U.S. investor tax withholding for Oaktree’s funds. The core responsibilities include:

•    Managing the end-to-end investor tax form validation process, including new investor form validation, resolicitation, remediation, and ad-hoc change of circumstance updates;
•    Ensuring the smooth operation of investor withholding tax as applicable to investor distributions, including managing the external relationships with, and deliverables to, Oaktree’s fund custodian banks;
•    Support the broader Oaktree tax and investor facing teams on investor withholding tax communications, including regular distribution related investor communications, investor form related communications, and responding to ad-hoc investor withholding tax queries; and
•    Lead and support the use and development of technology platforms as applicable to investor tax withholding, including the management of investor tax information via Oaktree’s internal Salesforce platform.

Qualifications

•    15+ years of relevant tax experience with a public accounting firm and/or within the financial services industry or asset management industry;
•    A strong technical understanding of the U.S. tax withholding regime, including U.S. Forms W-8 and W-9 interaction on investor withholding tax;
•    Experience with Salesforce a plus; and
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
