Title: Vice President, Distribution Sales

Position Summary:

Vice President, Distribution Sales will drive distribution sales to achieve specific revenue goals. This position is to support distribution sales and lead projects as assigned as well as support the selling of our products and services through our Distributor Network to meet expected sales and gross margin levels as set forth by the Sales director. This position will initiate, plan, execute, control and finalize projects in adherence to strict budget, schedule, and scope as outlined in customer contracts. The Vice President will work with the customer to assess current and future needs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and direct all Sales and Business Development activities related to planning, forecasting, reporting, new business analysis, project tracking, sales funnel management, etc. with distribution network.
  • Define short- and long-term goals and initiatives to promote and increase MTU’s penetration in key market segments and closely monitor results to ensure success.
  • Contact, manage and provide sales assistance to OEMs, distributors, dealers, end-users and field personnel.
  • Identify and define new business opportunities and establish growth initiatives for MTU products and services including making the sale.
  • Strategically define new product requirements necessary to meet customer needs.
  • Resolve customer and distributor issues as necessary to support on-going business as well as generate new business. 
  • Evaluate distributor performance against KPI’s and sales goals and take a proactive role to drive improvements within each distributor’s business. 
  • Coordinate cross functional internal and inter-regional activities required to support the sale of company products.
  • Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Perform administrative functions such as monitoring and assisting with budget planning processes, approving expenditures, enforcing rules and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Develop, manage and participate in tradeshows and industry events as well as assisting with the development of advertising campaigns, product literature and distributor events.

Basic Requirements: 

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering and 7 years of experience in large equipment/genset sales management within the gas engine industry or 11 years of experience in large equipment/genset sales management experience within the gas engine industry
  • Willingness to travel on short notice - domestic and international

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex business agreements and financial transactions
  • Proven ability to develop new business and deliver sales results.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving ability for complex problems
  • Excellent ability to listen and understand the needs of the customers and communicate those needs within the company
  • Knowledge of OEM sales process and previous experience selling through a distribution network
  • Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines and generator sets.
