Job Description
The Vice President – Corporate Secretarial (CoSec) will be based in India and serve as a senior offshore leader supporting corporate secretarial and governance activities delivered through the India Center of Excellence (CoE). This role is designed for a qualified lawyer and/or qualified company secretary with strong corporate governance experience, who brings sound legal judgment, attention to detail, and operational leadership capability.
The role will provide leadership across corporate secretarial and governance‑focused operational teams supporting global Legal, Compliance, and Business Unit stakeholders. The Vice President will partner closely with in‑house counsel, company secretaries, and senior stakeholders to ensure high‑quality board and committee support, effective governance processes, and well‑controlled documentation and reporting, in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, and corporate governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide senior‑level leadership and accountability for corporate secretarial and governance support delivered through the India Center of Excellence.
Lead and develop teams supporting board, committee, and entity‑level governance activities across jurisdictions.
Act as a legal and operational partner to global in‑house Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders on governance‑related matters.
Ensure consistent delivery standards, quality, and governance rigor across all CoSec‑supported activities.
Serve as an offshore escalation point for complex governance, documentation, or risk‑related issues.
Partner with global stakeholders to align on priorities, reporting requirements, and service expectations.
Drive standardization and efficiency across governance and corporate secretarial processes while accommodating jurisdictional and entity‑specific requirements.
Establish and maintain appropriate governance frameworks, service‑level expectations, and performance metrics.
Ensure strong controls, documentation practices, and audit readiness across all corporate secretarial activities.
Support global stakeholders across time zones, including outside of regular business hours as required.
Qualifications
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who demonstrate sound judgment, a strong work ethic, and a consistent record of achievement.
The successful candidate must have:
Qualified attorney and/or qualified company secretary with 10+ years of post‑qualification experience, including experience in corporate secretarial, governance, company law, or related legal roles at a law firm and/or in‑house.
Strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks, board and committee processes, and entity management requirements across jurisdictions.
Experience leading or coordinating offshore or shared‑services teams supporting governance or legal functions.
Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with proven experience partnering effectively with senior Legal, Compliance, and business leaders.
Strong execution mindset with sound legal judgment, attention to detail, and risk awareness.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
