Vice President, Client Solutions & Planning

Chicago Full time

Job Description:

The Vice President, Client Solutions & Planning is a senior strategic leader responsible for driving client growth through integrated media strategy, advanced planning, and measurable business impact. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, media, and client leadership—owning the development of full-funnel, insight-driven solutions that connect brand building to performance outcomes.

The VP will serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, leading cross‑functional teams and shaping how media planning evolves to meet modern business challenges. This individual brings a strong combination of strategic rigor, commercial mindset, and people leadership, with the ability to translate complexity into clear, actionable direction for both clients and teams.

Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategic Partnership
  • Act as a primary strategic lead for key client relationships, building trust with senior and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and delivery of integrated media and growth strategies that align to client business objectives (e.g., demand generation, revenue growth, brand health).
  • Elevate conversations from tactical execution to long-term growth, transformation, and innovation.
  • Ensure all recommendations are rooted in insight, data, and clear measurement frameworks.

Media Strategy, Planning & Innovation
  • Oversee the design of full-funnel media strategies that integrate brand, performance, and emerging channels.
  • Champion advanced planning approaches, including attribution models, experimentation frameworks, incrementality testing, and regression-based analysis where applicable.
  • Guide optimization strategies that balance short-term performance with long-term brand value.
  • Partner with analytics and activation teams to ensure planning decisions translate into effective execution and measurable outcomes.

Measurement, Analytics & Business Impact
  • Define success metrics tied to client KPIs and commercial goals.
  • Lead the interpretation of performance data and insights to inform strategic recommendations and optimization.
  • Ensure clarity and sophistication in how performance narratives are communicated to clients.
  • Push teams beyond reporting toward insight, learning agendas, and strategic interpretation.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing planning and client solutions team.
  • Set clear expectations for strategic quality, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with cross‑functional leaders across media activation, analytics, creative, and operations.

Commercial & Operational Excellence
  • Support business growth through scope development, resourcing discussions, and client opportunity identification.
  • Contribute to new business efforts, including pitch strategy, solution design, and executive presentations.
  • Ensure work is delivered efficiently, with strong communication, timelines, and quality control.
  • Help evolve planning frameworks, tools, and best practices across the organization.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 12+ years of experience in media strategy, planning, consulting, or integrated marketing roles.
  • Proven experience leading complex, multi-channel media strategies for large or sophisticated clients.
  • Deep understanding of full-funnel planning, brand and performance integration, and modern measurement approaches.
  • Strong client presence with experience presenting to and influencing senior executives.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including managing managers and building high-performing teams.
  • Experience partnering with analytics, media buying, and creative teams in an agency or consulting environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate data into clear business narratives.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strategic leadership and executive communication
  • Integrated media planning and channel strategy
  • Advanced measurement, attribution, and optimization concepts
  • Commercial acumen and business growth mindset
  • Clear, compelling storytelling grounded in data
  • Collaborative, decisive, and calm under pressure
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through

What Success Looks Like
  • Clients view you as a trusted growth partner, not just a media lead.
  • Teams are aligned, inspired, and clear on strategic direction.
  • Media strategies are cohesive, innovative, and demonstrably tied to business results.
  • Planning is elevated from tactics to a true strategic discipline.
  • The organization’s approach to client solutions is sharper, smarter, and more future-ready.
