Primary Responsibilities
Patient Care & Handling
Safely handle, restrain, and comfort patients during examinations and procedures.
Assist Veterinarians and Technicians with medical treatments, diagnostics, and minor procedures.
Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures and report any changes to the veterinary team.
Provide basic animal care including feeding, walking, cleaning, and monitoring hospitalized patients.
Clinical Support
Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and equipment according to clinic protocols.
Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection, labeling, and basic in-house testing.
Maintain medical supplies, restock inventory, and properly store medications and materials.
Client Interaction & Education
Greet clients and patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
Assist with client education regarding basic pet care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive care.
Support front-desk operations as needed, including scheduling and basic record updates.
Facility Maintenance & Safety
Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, kennels, treatment areas, surgical suite, and common spaces.
Follow safety protocols, infection control standards, and OSHA guidelines.
Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous materials and waste.
Teamwork & Professional Conduct
Communicate effectively with Veterinarians, Technicians, and support staff.
Maintain accurate patient records as directed.
Uphold clinic policies, confidentiality, and professional standards.
Participate in training, meetings, and continuing education as required.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting preferred but not required.
Ability to safely restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassion for animals and commitment to patient welfare.
Ability to multitask, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and handle stressful situations.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with veterinary software preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy weight.
Comfortable working around animals, including those that may be injured, frightened, or aggressive.
Ability to work flexible hours if needed.
