The Vessel Performance Specialist owns the end-to-end delivery of a high quality analytics service that transforms ship noon reports and high-frequency (HD) sailing data into clear, actionable insights. The client facing delivery aspect of the role involves working with both, Voyage Performance Application as well as the new Vessel Hull& Propellor analytics application. This role ensures that every dataset entering our proprietary analytics platform is accurate, traceable, and decision-ready, and that every output delivered to clients is concise, defensible, and operationally meaningful.

You will collaborate closely with technical benchmarking specialists, voyage operations teams, and product/engineering partners to validate inputs, resolve data issues, enhance methodologies, and continuously raise the standard of service quality.

Your responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Data Quality Ownership
  • Own and operate all data ingestion checks and quality gates for noon reports and HD data streams
  • Detect and resolve anomalies: outliers, drift, sensor faults, missing/duplicated data, timestamp issues, unit inconsistencies, and reporting errors
  • Maintain full auditability: what changed, why it changed, and the impact on results
  • Define and track data quality KPIs such as completeness, timeliness, consistency, and accuracy proxies across all vessels

Analytics Execution & Interpretation

  • Take Ownership of vessels on OptiHull service to ensure proper setup and data
  • Run the OptiHull analytics application to generate voyage and period performance assessments
  • When needed, apply statistical methods to filter noise, manage uncertainty, and isolate real performance signals
  • Diagnose root causes behind anomalies environmental bias, draft/trim impacts, sensor offset, reporting behavior, operational decisions
  • Benchmarking & Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with benchmarking specialists to validate model assumptions and corrections
  • Translate technical findings into clear, confidence-qualified conclusions and recommended actions
  • Provide engineering/product teams with reproducible cases and structured evidence

Client Reporting & Communication

  • Produce client-ready deliverables including executive summaries, anomaly logs, charts, tables, and methodological notes
  • Present findings clearly and confidently to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure all reports are timely, consistent, and defensible

Service Improvement & Standardization

  • Develop and refine internal playbooks, QC checklists, build Training Manual, and SOPs
  • Improve detection rules, thresholds, and automation logic
  • Contribute to onboarding and training materials

Your background

Required:

  • Strong knowledge with native applications Fleetview and VDRS system (training will be provided)
  • Proven experience owning data quality end-to-end
  • Ability to work confidently with messy operational datasets
  • Clear, concise communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong ownership mindset
  • Statistical and data validation techniques
  • Time-series handling and signal cleaning
  • Strong written reporting skills
  • Stakeholder coordination across teams
  • Ability to learn proprietary applications quickly
  • Clear and structured issue tracking abilities
  • Ability to maintain a service mindset focused on operational decisions

Preferred:

  • Experience with vessel performance models.
  • Exposure to benchmarking methods for vessel speed and consumption models
  • Experience with sailing reports and hfd data including weather impacts on vessel performance.

Working conditions

  • Shift or rotational work may be required.
  • May involve on‑call duty for urgent cases/requests.
