Verafin - Senior Software Developer (Lakehouse Data Integration)

As a Senior Software Developer on our Lakehouse Data Integration Team, you'll play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data applications that power Nasdaq Verafin's lakehouse platform and enable seamless data integration across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable applications using Java and object-oriented programming principles.
• Write and optimize high-performance queries using PostgreSQL to support large-scale data operations.
• Build and maintain comprehensive unit tests to ensure code quality and system reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data integration solutions that drive business outcomes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and platform architecture.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java with solid understanding of object-oriented design.
• Proven experience with PostgreSQL, including query optimization and database performance tuning.
• Clear communicator with experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building large-scale data processing pipelines using Apache Spark and Scala.
• Hands-on experience deploying and scaling applications within AWS infrastructure (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, EMR, Lambda).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or cloud-native architectures.

This position will be located in St. John's or Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
