What will you do?

A day in the life of a Merchandiser, Graphic Tees at Vans looks a little like this.

As a Merchandiser, Graphic Tees at Vans, you will work within the Global Apparel Merchandising team, focusing on the graphic tees category. You’ll collaborate closely with the Merchandising teams to deliver consumer-right assortments that reflect Vans’ brand DNA. In this role, you will own seasonal line architecture, support merchandising strategies, and analyze financial and market data to inform global briefs and assortment decisions. You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Merchandising.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

  • Own seasonal merchandising strategy and line architecture for the graphic tees category, ensuring alignment with brand vision and financial goals.
  • Develop global merchandising briefs by gathering and analyzing financials, competitor insights, line plans, and regional input.
  • Rank styles and optimize assortments based on historical and current product performance, identifying redundancies and opportunities for growth.
  • Conduct trend and competitor research to inform seasonal direction and identify new consumer-driven opportunities.
  • Partner with Design and Product Development to source and develop new fabrications; attend fittings and review product details to ensure design integrity and quality standards.
  • Maintain and update line plans throughout the season, ensuring accuracy and adherence to calendar milestones.
  • Prepare and present materials for key meetings, including line reviews and milestone presentations, driving alignment across global and regional teams.

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 3-5 years of experience and professional achievements. 

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Product Development, Business Administration, or equivalent experience in apparel merchandising that demonstrates strong product and market understanding.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends, consumer behavior, and cultural influences that drive product decisions.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with experience in PLM systems; familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret financial data, manage line plans, and maintain accuracy across multiple seasonal milestones.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment globally.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and adhering to calendar processes.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative environment with Design, Development, Planning, and Regional Merchandising teams to achieve shared goals.

  • Location requirement: Hybrid schedule in-office in Costa Mesa, CA.

Hiring Range:

$73,440.00 USD - $91,800.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
