Open to candidates based in major metropolitan areas across the Central or Western U.S. This role requires proximity to a major airport and regular travel throughout the division.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Divisional Vice President, you lead a team of regional directors, and enable flawless execution, build future leaders, and deliver tremendous sales growth. With a keen focus on ensuring customer satisfaction, you work closely with your regional directors to roll out corporate initiatives and procedures that foster a WOW experience. Your leadership enables teams and individuals to thrive in an environment that is constantly changing and inspires commitment to shared goals and strategies through generating and recognizing outstanding performance. You build a culture of accountability with consistent direction, feedback, and follow-up to deliver continuous sales growth and operational efficiency. You are focused on building a winning strategy that grows the company and your career.

Build High Talent Crew

  • Ensure people feel cared for and connected to each other, and foster a culture that values inclusion and diversity

  • Communicate proactively with RDs and DMs to support their effective implementation of directives, policies, and procedures

  • Lead a team of regional directors (RDs) with a focus on engagement and performance

  • Continually build capability by coaching RDs through problem-solving and decision-making processes

  • Generate a strong talent pipeline, hire quality candidates, prioritize training and development, mitigate human resources issues, and foster retention

  • Provide an exceptional employee experience by identifying opportunities for and approving promotions, while also taking disciplinary action, including terminations, as needed

  • Grow and develop a team of RDs while building pipelines for future RD talent among DMs

  • Equip and empower RDs to make strategic and tactical decisions that increase employee engagement and positively impact the bottom line

  • Visit stores to observe store performance and work environment in order to provide feedback and recognition to DMs & RDs

  • Communicate proactively with rollup employees to inspire high-quality work and support their effective implementation of directives, policies, and procedures

  • Develop a comprehensive change management approach that creates buy-in from direct reports to adopt change—inviting input and ideas, while establishing clear expectations about the path forward

Drive Business Performance

  • Lead dedicated and actionable strategies to improve enterprise-wide results, including but not limited to:

    • Aligning business practices with Five Below Way

    • Maximizing store potential via people, process, and technology

    • Growing comp sales & delivering operational leverage

    • Leading and driving employee engagement initiatives

    • Ensuring operating processes are leveraged across stores that include OMNI programs

    • Executing and optimizing key business initiatives (such as...)

    • Partnering with and providing leadership to Loss Prevention: identifying, designing, and implementing policies and programs focused on reducing shrink

    • Being a presence for stores, listening, reviewing, evolving, and enhancing operations, working with relevant teams to provide feedback and direction

    • Approving promotions, terminations, and district/region-level disciplinary action as needed.

  • Establish and communicate a clear, compelling company vision that empowers direct reports to meet or exceed company objectives

  • Work cross-functionally with corporate leaders to advocate for resources, solve problems, improve processes, and enhance overall company performance

  • Engage critical functions and build strong relationships to improve business efficacy (e.g., HR, construction, real estate, finance, merchandise, supply chain, etc.)

  • Leverage business analytics to drive greater performance among the RDs as a group

  • Identify, communicate, and measure the strategy that drives sales, improves the customer experience, and increases profitability

  • Drive accountability and lead the implementation of standards, measures, and budgets to deliver operational success

  • Strategically plan for, and empower direct reports to pursue operational enablement of revenue growth 

  • Provide counsel and guidance in store operating matters, informing about opportunities and trends

  • Listen carefully and prioritize interactions with associates at many levels within the company to stay informed of and proactively support employee needs 

  • Encourage and empower regional directors to experiment and pilot more effective ways of working

  • Achieve results without compromising the quality or integrity of work and adhere to company policies and local, state, and federal laws

Cultivate a Culture of Customer-Obsession

  • Define and inspire a sales culture that achieves overall company business performance results.

  • Ensure exceptional customer experiences through the application of the Five Below service model

  • Strategically assess regions and coach leaders to drive consistency of customer experience and incremental sales growth

  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • 15+ years retail experience with 7+ years multi-store management; experience in retail operations

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to plan strategically and utilize time effectively to accomplish business objectives

  • Ability to exercise independent decision-making and work under little supervision

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate staff in different locations

  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills

  • Proven ability to successfully execute corporate business plans

  • Proficiency in computer use and standard office applications

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
