About the Role
FD has built a rapidly growing and highly successful valuations offering and we are seeking a Valuations Associate to join our team in London to help us further develop and grow this service. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a background in finance or quantitative discipline to gain hands-on experience and work with a diverse client base of high-growth, VC-backed technology and life science companies that are seeking to scale internationally.
As a Valuations Associate, you will work closely with the Valuations Senior Manager, Tax Partner, and other members of our tax and audit teams. You will support valuations projects from start to finish, which will involve data gathering and analysis, valuation model setup, report preparation, client discussions and HMRC submissions. This role will offer direct exposure to clients and requires a blend of technical skills, strategic and analytical thinking, and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities and duties
- Prepare and deliver valuation reports, ensuring high-quality and accurate outputs.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions and where required, work with the firm’s tax and audit teams.
- Respond to client queries and support senior team members in project delivery.
- Manage the onboarding process for new clients in the valuations practice.
- Assist in the setup and refinement of valuation models.
- Develop technical knowledge in areas such as Employee Share Schemes and associated tax implications.
Skills and Experience
Must have:
- Degree in Finance, Statistics, Accounting, or other scientific field with strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Foundational knowledge of corporate finance and financial instruments.
- Proficiency in quantitative analysis, Excel, and financial modelling, with the ability to communicate complex methodologies and assumptions to others.
- Ability to understand and interpret legal documents, such as Articles of Association and Shareholder Agreements.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality analysis and presentations.
- Strong organizational skills with a drive to complete projects to a high standard.
- Self-starter with initiative, confidence, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Team player with a proactive, "can-do" attitude.
Nice to have:
- Understanding of a range of valuation methodologies including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Current Value Model (CVM), Probability Weighted Expected Return Model (PWERM) and Option Pricing Models (OPM) methods.
- Understanding of different share classes and rights in unlisted companies.
- Experience with business valuation, intellectual property, goodwill and carried interest.
- Experience with valuation under IFRS 2 / IFRS 9 / IFRS 13 / FRS 102 (UK GAAP) standards.
- Background in the valuation of employee incentive plans and interactions with HMRC Share Asset Valuations (SAV) team.
- Professional qualifications in finance, tax or accounting is advantageous
- Experience working in professional services and with SME clients.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining lasting internal and external stakeholder relationships.
