Vaccine & Immune Therapies Business Unit Director

The Vaccine & Immune Therapies Business Unit Director ensures AZ Turkey’s short-, mid-, and long-term business success by developing and executing integrated sales and marketing strategies that drive sustainable growth, profitability, and competitive positioning. The role leads and coaches the Sales & Marketing organization to deliver predefined market share and financial targets and actively contributes to strategic decision-making as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), shaping the present and future success of AZ Turkey.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic planning: Build therapy area marketing strategies with Brand Managers, align field implementation, and optimize the product promotion team structure to reflect market competition and internal dynamics.
  • Target setting and performance management: Define national sales and market share targets; track performance and implement corrective actions when deviations occur. Drive Quarterly Business Reviews, Brand Plans, and Operational Plans that reflect customer insights.
  • Business plan development: Assess national business potential, team competitiveness, and resource needs; outline the product promotion and launch excellence framework in the business plan; design sales campaigns that deliver optimal ROI and competitive advantage; set ambitious, achievable goals for field teams.
  • Leadership and people development: Ensure team objectives and Individual Development Plans align with AZ Turkey priorities; foster a high-performance culture through performance management; coach direct reports to build technical expertise and professionalism; guide managers on resource allocation, talent decisions, and business priorities.
  • Compliance and workplace safety: Uphold the Code of Conduct, Policies, Standards, and AZ Values; periodically review disciplinary policies for effectiveness; convene discipline reviews when needed; ensure the team’s working environment and working hours meet safety and suitability requirements.
  • Effective resource management: Safeguard and optimize company resources; ensure efficient use of financial and human resources in line with strategy; monitor revenue and expenses to meet sales and profitability targets.
  • Organization development and cross-functional alignment: Lead workforce planning and the talent pipeline; hire and develop the right capabilities; collaborate effectively with Medical, Market Access, and other cross-functional partners to ensure integrated execution; contribute to launch strategy and roadmap, defining launch vision and success metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Marketing, Commercial, or Science preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical companies, with a strong background in sales and marketing.
  • People leadership experience, including development of sales and marketing teams
  • Strong understanding of in-market commercial needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; demonstrates flexibility and the ability to manage complexity under time pressure while contributing to broader team projects.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical business models, processes, and activities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify relevant issues from large volumes of information.
  • Knowledge of scientific, commercial, and financial evaluation techniques.
  • Proven experience presenting written and oral business cases to senior management effectively.
