We’re looking for a UX Researcher to join our team for a 4-month contract (salary prorated – extension possible). In this role, you’ll take a hands-on approach to research, delivering user-centred insights that shape high-quality designs and ensure usability engineering compliance. You’ll work closely with our UX Researchers and collaborate with design verticals—Industrial Design, UX Design, and UX Development—as well as stakeholders in Product Management, Delivery, and Engineering.
This position requires on-site presence at our Crawley office three days per week, offering you the chance to work alongside a talented team and make a real impact.
What you’ll do at Elekta:
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Contributes to the definition of usability strategy for new products and new product releases following regulatory guidelines and Elekta standards.
Plans, conducts, facilitates and documents contextual studies, interviews, surveys, task and use error analyses, user reviews, heuristic evaluations, or usability testing for a feature, product, or workflow. Supports moderation, note taking, and reporting in larger workflow-level evaluations that are led by more senior UX researchers.
Contributes to building Radiation Therapy (RT) domain understanding through visualised user personas, user profiles, user journeys, user task flows, and representations of use environment (social, physical, technical).
Uses understanding of RT user groups, their tasks, and user needs to guide design decisions, shape the user experiences, and avoid use errors in medical devices.
Actively communicates user needs and user insights to designers, reviews design versions and provides feedback to improve designs.
Summarizes and documents research insights into presentations, presents the results and facilitates decision making based on research insights.
Manages Elekta’s reputation and positive experiences towards internal and external test participants.
Familiar with Elekta QMS processes on a high level. Builds further understanding on how different functions and activities play a part in the product creation process.

What you bring:

Masters degree in Human Factors Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, experimental or cognitive psychology, cognitive engineering or User-Centred Design.
Good understanding on medical device regulations and compliance is a mandatory criteria for this role.
Knowledge base acquired from 2+ years of experience as an individual contributor in human factors, usability, or UX research.
Experience of working in the human factors engineering of medical devices (or other complex devices in a regulated field) is essential.
Good general understanding of UX research methods, and the ability to compare and choose suitable methods for studies, analysis, and reporting.
Proficiency in different UX research methods like contextual studies, interviews, surveys, task and use error analyses, user reviews, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
Basic academic writing skills and the ability to follow templates in documentation.
Good knowledge of usability engineering and risk management standards and guidelines (e.g. IEC 62366, FDA HF guidelines, ISO 14971).
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and common workshopping tools (like Miro, FigJam, LucidChart).
Good understanding of agile principles and agile product development practices (Scrum, Kanban).
Knowledge of large-scale agile practises (SAFe) is preferred, but not essential.
Employees must be fluent in the English language (reading, speaking, writing, and comprehension).
