Job Summary

As a User Experience (UX) Design Contractor, you will help shape LifeVest and related products. You'll collaborate with a dynamic team of designers, engineers, business stakeholders, and product managers, gathering insights to understand user needs. Together, you'll transform user research and design principles into intuitive, engaging digital and physical experiences that make a difference. The ideal candidate possesses the following skills.

• You have a strong background in creating user interface wireframes, interaction models, and both digital and physical prototypes.
• You possess experience in producing sketches to conceptualize ideas of physical device interactions.
• You are adept at presenting your concepts to stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and leadership.
• You have a solid understanding of User-Centered Design and maintain high standards for yourself and your team.

Essential Functions

  • Design wireframes and mockups with GUI design tools.
  • Create and communicate concepts through sketching, visual storytelling, and digital and physical models.
  • Iterate on designs based on user feedback, metrics, usability findings, and design critiques.
  • Create stimuli for testing concepts and help drive design research cycles.
  • Create style guides, copy patterns, and information architecture.
  • Present design work to cross-functional teams for review, feedback, and approval.
  • Assist in developing user scenarios, use cases, and design requirements.
  • Interview internal and external stakeholders and users.
  • Create design documentation and execute user research activities.
  • Promote the User-Centered Design process and other evolving industry standards.


Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in design-related discipline such as Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Science, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in UX design required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Highly proficient in Figma.
  • Highly skilled with design collaboration tools such as FigJam and Miro.
  • Highly skilled in Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience with creating iconography, animations and micro-animations.
  • Skilled in sketching ideas and storyboarding.
  • Experience creating information architecture models, developing style guides, and contributing to design systems.
  • Experience in creating both digital and physical prototypes.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, including planning and conducting user research, user testing, and rapid prototyping.
  • Knowledgeable about best practices for web, mobile and embedded GUI design.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents of advanced technical complexity. Ability to write reports and research findings of a technical nature. Ability to speak and present effectively one-on-one as well as in small and large groups of professionals including customers, clients and collaborators, both inside and outside the organization.

The hourly pay rate for this position is:

$100,000.00 to $130,000.00
