As a Utility Worker with ENMAX Power you will support Distribution Field Services at the South Service Centre. This permanent role involves hands-on work in varied weather conditions, assisting with construction and maintenance tasks, and ensuring the safe operation of equipment and work sites. You’ll be part of a team dedicated to upholding safety standards and delivering reliable service to our community. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

This position is under the direction and general supervision of a Field Resources Leadhand or Coordinator.  The incumbent will be responsible for: 
 

  • Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations. 

  • Working in all weather conditions and often in open trenches around underground utilities, manholes, performing flagging on roadway construction sites, and around heavy equipment. 

  • Typical labourer duties such as basic concrete and carpenter duties along with working with tools such as; shovels, tampers, digging bars, grinders, cut off saws, circular saws, concrete vibrator, and jackhammers up to 95lbs. 

  • Ensure proper care and use of vehicles, equipment and work sites.  

 

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Must meet ENMAX Corporation’s requirements as to qualifications and/or must be qualified under the Alberta Skilled Trade and Apprenticeship Education Act with respect to the related electrical trade. 

  • Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWOPs). 

  • Must be in good physical condition.  

  • Must have general knowledge of the principals involved in the operation of construction and maintenance methods and procedures. 

  • Must have a valid Province of Alberta driver’s license, minimum Class 5 (non-GDL) 

  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • Will have (or be willing to obtain) Standard First Aid and C.P.R. 

  • Must be willing to upgrade qualifications as required.

Salary: As outlined in the IBEW Collective Agreement (2025 Collective Agreement rates)  

$37.62 per hour (in 1st year up to 2,080 hours of work) 
$41.79 per hour (in 2nd year full Utility Worker wage) 

 

Shift: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday–Friday with alternating Fridays off (may change to meet operational needs) 

 

Location: ENMAX South Service Centre - 8820 52 St. SE, Calgary, AB T2C 4E7
