Overview & Responsibilities
The Utility Operator - Sandblasting is responsible for well-organized, efficient preparation, and handling of service shop material stock, tooling, and blast cleaning operations. The operator is also involved in some light maintenance work and painting and works under supervision of the shop supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Comply with and promote Company safety policy at all times
Understand and execute from written and verbal instructions
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Conducts him/herself in a professional manner at all times
Learns to understand inspection reports within a reasonable timeframe
Performs sand blast cleaning operations and maintains the blast house equipment as needed
Learns to use specific equipment, tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications, and documentation to perform functions of the role
Learns to accurately perform dimensional inspections of rotating equipment components within a reasonable timeframe
Obtains certification to operate forklifts and cranes
Accepts ownership of work performance and strives to improve his/her skill set
Qualifications:
Blast cleaner operator
Forklift certified preferred
Crane certified preferred
Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
