US Corporate Income Tax Senior Manager

Position Summary

The US Corporate Income Tax Senior Manager is responsible for leading the day‑to‑day U.S. income tax operations for the organization, including provision, compliance, audits, tax planning execution, and transaction support. This role manages and develops a team of four tax professionals and plays a critical role in setting priorities, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables, and driving continuous improvement across tax processes.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with sound judgment, people leadership, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four U.S. corporate income tax professionals.
  • Set weekly, monthly, and quarterly priorities based on regulatory deadlines and business needs.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Income Tax Provision

  • Review quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations, workpapers, and disclosures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Coordinate provision deliverables with Finance, Accounting, and external auditors.
  • Oversee variance analysis, forecasting, and effective tax rate drivers.

Income Tax Compliance

  • Review U.S. federal, state, and local corporate income tax compliance calculations and returns for C‑corporations, including multi‑state filings and apportionment.
  • Oversee extensions, estimated payments, and compliance calendars.

Audit Support & Controversy

  • Review state audit responses and support prepared internally.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Identify recurring audit issues and drive remediation and documentation improvements.

M&A, Transactions, and Special Projects

  • Support integration and ongoing reporting of mergers, acquisitions, disposals, and restructurings.
  • Review tax impacts of transactions and ensure timely incorporation into provision and compliance processes.
  • Lead or support income tax research projects and position documentation.
  • Execute certain tax planning initiatives with oversight and collaboration from tax leadership.

Process Improvement & Technology

  • Drive process improvements leveraging tax technology and automation.
  • Improve documentation, data flows, and standardization across income tax deliverables.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive U.S. corporate income tax experience in public accounting and/or industry.
  • Extensive experience with U.S. federal and multi‑state C‑corporation income tax compliance, provision, audit, and planning.
  • Several years of experience managing, mentoring, and developing a professional tax team.
  • Strong understanding of income tax accounting concepts and controls.
  • Proven ability to set priorities, manage deadlines, and exercise sound professional judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, MST, or equivalent professional designation.
  • Experience with Corptax and Longview income tax software is a plus.
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions and post‑acquisition integration.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and leveraging technology.
  • Prior experience in a large multinational or complex multi‑state environment.
