Pay Range

$18.85 - $28.30

As a Unit Secretary, you’ll support the daily operations of the unit through clerical expertise and indirect patient care, helping ensure every patient receives timely, age‑appropriate support while the clinical team functions seamlessly.

Essential Functions

  • Perform clerical duties related to patient scheduling, admissions, procedures, transfers, surgeries, discharges, and deaths under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Handle and screen incoming calls; relay messages accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff by following established procedures.
  • Ensure accurate, complete, confidential, and timely communication of patient information.
  • Complete requisitions, data entry tasks, and nursing communication forms.
  • Communicate effectively, positively, and professionally with team members, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrate initiative and accountability for personal performance, growth, and development.
  • Perform work in an organized, calm, and efficient manner—especially in stressful or rapidly changing situations.
  • Complete assigned unit responsibilities and assist colleagues when time permits.
  • Provide age/developmentally appropriate patient care following Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the populations served.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a unit secretary course or equivalent preferred.
  • Clerical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certification & Registration

  • None required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent workload changes and competing demands.
  • Capacity to develop transcription skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and reliability in a fast‑paced environment.

Schedule Details

  • 0730–1930, three 12‑hour shifts per week
  • Every other weekend required
