About the role
We’re looking for a Unit Claims Manager, Property, to join our growing team!
As a Unit Claims Manager for a Property team based out of Mississauga, you will be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to a team of claims professionals. You and your team will be accountable for providing quality service, completing work processes effectively and efficiently, and continuously identifying areas of improvement.
What you'll do here:
Participate in the development and implementation of business plans and manage operations to achieve key business goals
Provide effective leadership, motivate staff and be responsible for hiring and delivering employee performance feedback
Provide coaching on technical and professional skills for your team and facilitate continuous learning by building robust development plans for your employees
Develop, recommend and implement management and/or organizational initiatives to support company strategies including changes to organizational structure and process/technology improvements
Act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters such as, policy interpretation and settlement negotiation to help resolve claims-related issues
Liaise with other claims experts on technical and administrative issues
Maintain productive business relationships and effective communication other claims teams, underwriting and vendors
What you bring to the table
A minimum of 5 years work experience in claims handling or prior leadership experience
Property claims experience is an asset
University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
Completed or are working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
Leadership skills including the ability to motivate and coach staff to deliver results
Strong communication and customer service skills
Self-driven attitude and an advocate of leading change
Ability to analyse and interpret data to drive innovation
