Job Title:

Undergraduate Fellowship Coordinator

Department:

Undergraduate Education | High Impact Practices

The Undergraduate Fellowship Office (UFO) coordinates the application, interview, and university endorsement processes for undergraduates and recent alumni who wish to be considered for national fellowships and awards. Housed in the Office of Academic Enrichment, the UFO serves all undergraduate students across The Ohio State University.

The UFO seeks a Program Coordinator to help the Fellowship Manager facilitate the office's responsibilities. The Program Coordinator will manage the processes for and advise students on various fellowship opportunities with a focus on early- to mid-career student applicants for awards such as the Goldwater Scholarship, Critical Language Scholarship, UK Summer Fulbright Institute, Udall Scholarship, and others based upon their subject matter expertise and interests. Working directly with students throughout the application process, the Program Coordinator reviews and provides feedback on their applications, including essays, short answer questions, and resumes. The Program Coordinator will also assist with student applications for awards such as the Rhodes Scholarship, the US Student Fulbright Program, and the Truman Scholarship, among others. When required and in consultation with the Fellowship Manager, the Program Coordinator writes nomination letters for national applications and submits application materials on behalf of nominees. The ability to manage deadlines as well as confidential education records such as transcripts is required.

In addition to working with student applicants, the Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Fellowship Manager to continue enhancing a culture of fellowships across campus. This includes working with partners in departments around campus to advertise fellowships, plan targeted recruitment events, and identify potentially strong applicants early, along with the expansion of faculty involvement in the fellowship process. The Coordinator provides feedback to faculty on letters of recommendation, facilitates faculty nominating committee meetings, and coordinates workshops and special events facilitated by the UFO Faculty Fellow. The position will plan and present information sessions and other programs related to national fellowships to students, faculty, and staff. The Coordinator may research additional fellowship awards to diversify the offerings of the Office in collaboration with the Program Manager. Responsibilities include occasional evening and weekend work hours.

The Program Coordinator also facilitates office operations by independently conducting routine office tasks potentially including, but not limited to, printing and copying, requesting and picking up transcripts, making room reservations for events, tracking event attendance, purchasing event and office supplies, and collaborating with Office of Academic Enrichment Communications staff on outreach and communication materials.
