Job Description:
As the Turnpike Operations and Development Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company's Massachusetts Turnpike locations. Your role involves monitoring performance, profitability, implementing operational initiatives, and serving as the primary interface with MassDOT (Massachusetts Department of Transportation) and Global. Additionally, you will co-manage the Mass Pike annual maintenance spend and oversee vendor relationships.
What You'll Do:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company's Massachusetts Turnpike locations, ensuring smooth functioning, efficiency, and compliance with operational standards.
Monitor performance metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and financial performance to assess operational effectiveness and profitability.
Identify areas for improvement, operational efficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities, and implement initiatives to optimize turnpike operations.
Serve as the primary interface and liaison with MassDOT (Massachusetts Department of Transportation) and Global, maintaining positive relationships, addressing issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with MassDOT and Global on operational matters, projects, initiatives, and strategic planning to enhance turnpike operations and development.
Identify and implement operational development initiatives to enhance customer experience, safety, and efficiency at Massachusetts Turnpike locations.
Coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to execute development projects, upgrades, and enhancements aligned with business objectives.
Co-manage the Mass Pike annual maintenance spend, including budgeting, forecasting, expenditure tracking, and cost control measures.
Evaluate vendor contracts, negotiate terms, and oversee vendor relationships to ensure quality service delivery, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with contractual agreements.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices for turnpike operations.
Stay updated on regulatory changes, participate in regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reviews, and implement corrective actions as needed.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, transportation management, civil engineering, or a related field (master's degree or certifications are a plus).
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in operations management, transportation, infrastructure development, or related roles, preferably in the turnpike or toll road industry.
Strong knowledge of turnpike operations, regulatory compliance, safety standards, and transportation logistics.
Experience in project management, budgeting, financial analysis, and vendor management.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Analytical mindset, problem-solving abilities, and strategic thinking to identify opportunities, address challenges, and drive operational improvements.
Leadership qualities, including team management, decision-making, and a results-driven approach to achieving operational goals.
