Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Tunnels Inspector to join our construction supervision team! In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and supervising activities related to the production of precast tunnel segments in the precast yard, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Inspect and supervise the production of precast tunnel segments in the precast yard, ensuring compliance with approved shop drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Monitor all precast yard activities, including reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, curing, and finishing of tunnel segments.

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure that materials, workmanship, and processes meet project requirements and specifications.

  • Review and verify contractor submissions, including method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and material approvals related to precast yard activities.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and production progress in the precast yard.

  • Coordinate with the contractor’s quality control team to ensure adherence to quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures.

  • Identify and report any non-conformances or deviations from project specifications, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

  • Assist in reviewing and approving shop drawings and technical submittals related to precast yard operations.

  • Monitor the curing process and ensure compliance with curing schedules and methods to achieve the required concrete strength and durability.

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of precast segments to prevent damage or defects.

  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs) and other quality-related inspections as required.

  • Liaise with the Resident Engineer, contractor, and other stakeholders to resolve issues related to precast yard activities.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the precast yard, and report any safety concerns or incidents.

  • Prepare daily and weekly reports on precast yard activities, including progress, quality, and safety observations.

  • Verify and ensure the accuracy and completeness of as-built documentation for precast segments.

 

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in construction supervision, with at least three (3) years focused on precast yard operations for tunnels or large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Strong understanding of precast concrete production processes, including reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, curing, and finishing.

  • Knowledge of materials used in precast concrete production, such as concrete mix designs, reinforcement, and formwork systems.

  • Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures, including inspection test plans (ITPs) and material testing.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting shop drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify non-conformances and defects in precast production.

  • Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.

  • Proficiency in using computer software for reporting and record-keeping.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Previous experience working on metro rail or large-scale tunneling projects is highly desirable.

  • Experience in the UAE/GCC region with knowledge of local regulations and standards is preferable.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.

  • Commitment to promoting a safety-first culture in the precast yard.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
