Job Summary: You will serve as a senior ARCHEOLOGIST / ANTHROPOLOGIST / HISTORIAN in the environmental division of the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Headquarters.

Major Duties:

  • You will provide cultural resources program oversight to ensure high quality, timely, cost effective and efficient cultural resources project execution, contracting and management support to preserve and enhance military readiness.
  • You will serve as a NAVFAC Senior Cultural Resources Professional and subject matter expert (SME) responsible for the development, management and execution of the Cultural Resources Program across the NAVFAC enterprise.
  • You will liaison with other Navy and marine Corps commands to ensure efficient and effective program execution.
  • You will support and coordinate the timely completion of NEPA documents, particularly complex EAs and EISs, and ensure compliance with cultural resources laws, rules and regulations.

Qualifications: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing complex Navy cultural resources projects, including developing contractor scopes of work, creating government estimates, managing funds, negotiating contractor proposals, overseeing contractor performance, processing invoices, and executing contracting officer representative (COR) duties Providing guidance, coordination, and technical expertise on complex Navy cultural resources issues and processes; and Applying Federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as Department of the Navy (DON) and Department of War (DOW) policies and processes related to cultural resources management. Occasionally, during construction site and field visits, work involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions (e.g. working parts, carts, or machines).
