The Tumor Registrar - Certified oversees the workflow of the department to ensure all regulatory agency deadlines are met. In addition, the Tumor Registrar - Certified facilitates the day-to-day management of schedules, provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to less experience staff, and tackles the more complex registrar functions.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Identifies, requests, and reviews inpatient and outpatient medical records with the tumor registry eligibility criteria for data collection.
2. Enters abstracted data into the database utilizing appropriate coding.
3. Follows-up with physicians, healthcare providers, family members, patients, and other reliable sources for clarification of missing or incomplete information.
4. Prepares statistical reports using abstracted data to assist with the preparation of charts, tables, and graphs for annual reports.
5. Tracks and follows-up with cancer patients to determine current health status, and reports changes to required agencies.
6. Maintains competency in all areas of the tumor registry through continuing education and professional associations.
7. Establishes weekly productivity targets for staff.
8. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Associated Degree (required)
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required (preferred)

Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required

Certification and Licensing:
Certified ODS - Oncology Data Specialist -
