Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation on Luke AFB, AZ. This is a Flexible position with no guaranteed hours or benefits. Requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, and stretching. Frequently lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be 21 years or older

Major Duties:

  • The purpose of this position is to serve as an Outdoor Recreation Trips and Tours Programmer for overall management, planning, maintenance and control of all outdoor facilities and equipment. Develops, organizes, and implements seasonal outdoor programs to include, but not limited to a variety of land and water-related activities and services (e.g., aquatics, camping, backpacking, nature hikes, canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, bicycling, skiing, etc.). Plans and coordinates activities within the limitations of available facilities, equipment, staff, and financial resources. Analyzes all related costs and calculates prices of trips and events. Schedules and publicize outdoor recreation activities. Arrange for off-base equipment, transportation, supplies, and services needed to accomplish scheduled activities. Establish contact with various off-base agencies. Solicits volunteers and individual activity orientation and training. Instructs participants in the activity for which the employee has technical expertise. Gathers, monitors, and maintains data to complete reports, responds to inquiries and assists others. Assists Outdoor Recreation Manager and Assistant Manager in planning, developing, and conducting an outdoor recreation training program, as well as a risk management plan. Assists with periodic program plans and quarterly and annual budget requirements. Ensures safety orientation is provided to paid and volunteer staff and participants regarding specific activities. Determines program needs and objectives through the use of patron requests, surveys, and current trends. Evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing activities and adapts various programs in accordance with findings. Plans and organizes special events as assigned to Outdoor Recreation Manager. Provides information and advises patrons of available recreation resources and opportunities in the area. May be required to act as trip/tour guide, supervise volunteers, Trips and Tours Recreation Assistants and perform personally, a broad variety of general clerical and administrative functions. May become involved in supply functions such as receipt, storage, issue and maintenance. Position is a Position of Trust. Experience tracking, managing, and maintaining outdoor equipment.
