Reporting to the VP Corporate Finance & Head of Treasury, this position will play a key and broad role within the Treasury team, focusing on (i) currency and interest rate strategy and execution to manage financial risk exposures; (ii) corporate capital planning and issuances (debt and equity) to support funding required to deliver our long-term growth strategy, including credit rating agency activities; and (iii) management of our First Nations equity loans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute corporate and project-level foreign exchange and interest rate hedges, working with multiple banking partners and hedge advisors to ensure transparent pricing and efficient execution; recommend methodologies and strategies to manage risks, adjust for opportunistic conditions, and achieve corporate objectives.
  • Ensure trades are documented, monitored and shared with relevant groups to create an efficient mid office, back office and accounting process.
  • Modelling and analysis of financial risks pertaining to foreign exchange and interest rate exposures, working collaboratively with project/deal teams, Risk and other functional areas, as applicable.
  • Assist with forecasting our corporate debt portfolio to optimize our structure and overall financing costs.
  • Active involvement with all corporate capital raises (including but not limited to bonds, hybrid capital, common equity and structured instruments) and related analyses, including regular dialogue with banking partners to monitor market developments, structuring considerations and pricing.
  • Modelling and analysis of capital funding scenarios to optimize cost of funding, corporate liquidity, credit rating and qualitative considerations.
  • Support the annual credit rating agency processes (modelling, preparation of presentations and analytics, etc.)
  • Manage equity loans to First Nations partners, from negotiation and documentation through funding, reporting and ongoing maintenance.
  • Identify ways to improve productivity and efficiency through technology and process improvements.
  • Support the Accounting/Reporting and FP&A teams with certain aspects of the financial reporting, forecasting, and accounting close process on a monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc basis.
  • Participate in and support cross-functional projects and initiatives involving FP&A, Project Finance, and Risk, which may involve rotational opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a similar Finance/Treasury role.
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Finance/Business or related field. CTP or other treasury-related designations are considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with foreign exchange and interest rate risk management.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required, including a comfort and proficiency in modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg is considered an asset.
