Job Summary

Anord Mardix, a Flex company, are a global group that manufactures switchgear and associated products for installation in mission-critical and live commercial buildings ranging from data centres to the international headquarters of some of the world’s largest companies.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Transport Logistics Lead located in Kendal.

Reporting to the EMEA Customs Manager, the Transport Logistics Lead will oversee transport operations, managing the storage, shipping and delivery of finished goods or materials safely, accurately and on time for several facilities in the UK. Manage and liaise with suppliers, carriers, warehouse managers, production and Project Managers, to optimise supply chain performance from a cost, scheduling and on time delivery in line with Anord Mardix and Flex compliance and ethics standards.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Operational Oversight – Prioritise and manage day-to-day activities, including transport operations, ensuring safe and efficient handling, storage and timely dispatch and delivery of goods, ensuring all queries and exceptions are dealt with effectively and promptly, with any potential delays escalated early

  • Performance Monitoring of Suppliers – Monitoring delivery times and transport costs, tracking KPIs and implementing improvements and efficiencies to ensure smooth transport flows

  • Oversee negotiations with vendors to achieve optimum rates and continually monitor factors such as fuel costs and legislation to keep logistical operations as profitable as possible

  • Manage freight cost and freight P+L – Monthly/quarterly/annually

  • Coordination - Liaising with transport teams, suppliers/vendors and internal departments, such as Planning, Production, Project Managers, Sales and Finance

  • Compliance and Safety - Ensuring adherence to, and compliance with, Health & Safety standards, legal regulations when importing and exporting and company procedures

  • Completing other tasks as necessary or as directed by the Logistics Manager

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Proven experience in a logistics or transport lead role

  • Strong road freight competency and experience in various modes of transport

  • Knowledge of imports and exports – customs formalities

  • Knowledge of trade compliance and incoterms

  • IT literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP Systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA)

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills

  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational abilities

  • Ability to act as both a team player and independently across multiple activities

  • Ability to handle, and quickly resolve, operational problems and delays that could have a negative impact on the business

  • Creative to find innovative solutions and develop new processes that optimise operations

  • Ability to work well under pressure, flexible and capable of responding to plans changing with little notice and to tight deadlines
