Job Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly experienced Transmission & Distribution Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team in Australia. The successful candidate will lead the preparation, coordination and submission of accurate and competitive cost estimates for a range of T&D infrastructure projects including overhead lines, substations, underground cable and related civil and electrical works.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of T&D construction, excellent analytical skills and the ability to collaborate with engineering, construction, procurement and commercial teams throughout all stages of the tendering process in a multinational company.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Lead the development of detailed cost estimates for T&D projects from early feasibility through to final tender submission: HV and EHV transmission lines, distribution networks, and/or substation infrastructure (typically 66 kV–500 kV).

  • Analyse engineering drawings, design calculations, specifications, and tender documents to determine required cost elements.

  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and external stakeholders to ensure cost-effective and timely project delivery.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, route selection, risk assessments, and constructability reviews.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian standards (AS/NZS), National Electricity Rules (NER), utility guidelines, and safety regulations.

  • Support procurement activities, including technical evaluations and vendor engagement.

  • Contribute to business development efforts, proposals, and client presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in transmission and distribution sector.

  • Knowledge of HV/EHV systems, including overhead line and/or underground cable design.

  • Experience working with major Australian utilities, transmission network service providers (e.g., AEMO, TransGrid, Powerlink, AusNet, Western Power), or EPC contractors.

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Trong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high level of attention to detail.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., PSS®E, PowerFactory, ETAP, Candy, PLSCAD).

  • Familiarity with project scheduling tools (e.g. Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
