Talen Energy is currently seeking a Transmission Analyst to join our Commercial Trading team!
This role will support the generation portfolio optimization and asset-backed trading by conducting thorough production cost modeling of current and future system conditions in PJM. They will be expected to make actionable recommendations based on the analysis performed, helping to achieve budget targets.

Work with the Commercial team with a focus on congestion modeling to identify opportunities and optimization of Talen Energy’s portfolio in the PJM market.
Support day-ahead analysis and forecasting of congestion risks and opportunities through nodal/LMP modeling.
Perform analysis of congestion risks associated with the company’s participation in monthly, annual, and long-term congestion auctions for the company's generation portfolio.
Develop energy market forecasts to support the creation of an internal market view on the longer-term expectations for zonal and nodal power basis.
Identify and develop improvements/new techniques in systems, data, and processes used in the performance of the position’s essential functions.
Work collaboratively with functional groups, including Operations, Credit, Risk, and Accounting.
Maintain and improve model input data to ensure accuracy of production cost modeling.
What You Have
Minimum Requirements
Proven experience with production cost modeling/power flow analysis.
Bachelor’s Degree; Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or equivalent.
Proficiency with production cost modeling tools (e.g., Dayzer, PROMOD, etc.).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Capability to work collaboratively across the front, mid, and back offices.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced technical degree or MBA
Experience at an ISO, IPP, or utility in a transmission planning or operations role
Programming proficiency such as Python, VBA, SQL, etc.
