The RN in this role will use clinical expertise away from the bedside in a busy - fast paced call center setting. Serve as a central communication source for all components of the patient transfer and consultation process, including direct ED/Inpatient admissions and Critical Care Transport.

Responsible for the facilitation of communication with specialty providers, medical control, transport team and patient placement. Acts as a resource to community and hospital based providers. Demonstrates effective communication skills, critical thinking skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to follow clinical practice guidelines.

  • Onsite - Milwaukee main campus

  • Office/Call Center setting

  • Full time - 0.9 FTE

  • Nights - 12 hr shifts

  • Weekend rotation

Experience:

  • 3+ years of patient care experience as an RN required or

  • 3+ years of Transport experience as an RCP required

  • Previous critical care, emergency room, or transport experience as a nurse preferred

  • Epic ASAP and Epic Rover experience preferred

  • Familiarity with Call Center software preferred

  • Pediatric experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently, utilize time management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills needed in a fast paced department.

  • Knowledge of a variety of pediatric healthcare specialties, including level of care, symptom identification critical thinking and decision making to appropriately triage and manage consult and transport requests. 

  • Basic knowledge of a computer including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, web browsing, document access and electronic health record.

Education:

  • Associate's Degree of Nursing required or

  • Associate's Degree of Respiratory Care required

  • Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing degree preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

  • License RN-Registered Nurse (30) - State of Wisconsin or

  • License Respiratory Care Practitioner (28) - State of Wisconsin

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required

  • PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council within 180 Days required
