Major Duties:

  • SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to process, orient, and provide a focal point for the management and administration of international student training at Sheppard AFB under the United States Security Assistance Training Program (SATP). DUTIES: 1. Serves as the point of contact for all international training and matters pertaining to the Security Assistance Training Program. 2. Plans for and processes International Military Students (IMSs). Organizes and maintains forecast student information received from Headquarters Air Force Security Assistance Training (AFSAT) and overseas Security Assistances Offices (SAOs). 3. Presents multimedia orientation program to IMSs. 4. Monitor student's training and prepares students for return to country. 5. Uses office automation software to provide clerical and administrative support for the DoD Field Studies Program (FSP) activities.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. Specialized Experience External Candidates: One year of specialized experience for GS-06 grade/level or equivalent in the federal service, which includes knowledge of briefing presentation software and techniques; knowledge of counseling techniques and implementation of those techniques in changing situations; knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. A qualified typist is not required; and knowledge of program data contents and methods for defining and retrieving non-standard data and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-06 grade/level in the federal service. OR EDUCATION: Have successfully completed graduate level education in a field directly related to this position which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of and the ability to interpret a variety of rules, regulations, procedures, and precedents relating to the International Military Student Office (IMSO) and to resolve complex procedural and substantive problems. 2. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. A qualified typist is not required. 3. Skill in the use of counseling techniques and methods to motivate individuals and groups. 4. Ability to interact successfully with individuals of differing cultures and nationalities. 5. Skill in interpersonal communications with individuals, groups, and upper level management. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
