Salary Range: $74678 - $97087 Per Year

Job Summary: This is a National Guard Title 5 Excepted Service Position. This is a Permanent GS-1712-11 TRAINING SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T5827000 and is part of the MO Directorate of Plans Operations and Training. This is a bargaining unit position.

Major Duties:

  • Develops short and long term training plans (5 years and more) for the state.
  • Reviews and analyzes regulations, directives and documents of higher, lower and adjacent headquarters to ensure training objectives are identified and met.
  • Evaluates plans to ensure compliance with training regulations, guidance and policies.
  • Recommends and develops solutions, procedures or alternatives to accomplish training objectives and goals.
  • Develops transportation and support requirements for military airlifts necessary for mission accomplishment.
  • Coordinates resources to ensure units have a viable ongoing unit marksmanship program as outlined in ARNG policy.
  • Coordinates changes with Adjutant General staff, Continental United States Army (CONUSA), NGB and major organizations/installations.
  • Analyzes the 5 year Overseas Deployment Training (ODT) Plan.
  • Coordinates and disseminates changes to the ODT Plan with CONUSA, NGB, TAG staff, USPhPO and units.
  • Manages Key Personnel Upgrade Program (KPUP).
  • Reviews requests for active component support, staffs requests for technical assistance and prepares recommendations to Training Administrator.
  • Develops plans and procedures for directed and nondirected training to include affiliation, roundout and split unit out-of-state.
  • Disseminates training opportunities and invitations and coordinates with active and reserve units to consummate training.
  • Manages Physical Training (PT) Program.
  • Monitors testing and evaluates results of command level program.
  • Evaluates trends for identifying strengths and weaknesses of the program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level that provided experience developing training plans and exercises; experience managing training programs; experience scheduling training events and conducting trainings; experience developing and organizing instructional materials; knowledge of audio-visual presentations; and the ability to present professional courses and briefings. This specialized experience must also include experience evaluating trends, providing recommendations and experience working with training budgets.
