We are looking for a Training Specialist to support the Aggie ACHIEVE program who can design and deliver impactful instruction while meeting high academic standards. We want someone who can assess student behavior and performance with clarity, intervene early with effective strategies, and keep learners on track both academically and socially. This role calls for a proactive mentor who can guide students toward college success, support instructional assistants, and cultivate an engaging, well‑managed classroom environment. We need a collaborator who can help build practicum partnerships, support goal‑setting, and lead job‑coaching and training activities with confidence. We’re seeking a professional who can represent the ACHIEVE program through admissions, outreach, and events while maintaining accurate records and contributing to program evaluation. Salary: $55,000/annually

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in special education or Curriculum and Instruction.
Experience working with students with disabilities in postsecondary education settings and supporting students with independent living and employment readiness.
Experience with course development, including materials and syllabus.
Transition and Employment Designee (TED) Training.
Bilingual in Spanish.
Fluent in sign language.
EC-12 SPED certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Oral and written communication skills.
Presentation skills.
Essential Duties/Tasks
Instruction
Designs and delivers effective classroom instruction for assigned courses.
Develops, reviews, edits, and updates training materials.
Designs and develop syllabus content, ensuring the guidelines are followed and meet the objective standards of the course.
Observes, evaluates, and assesses student’s behaviors in the classroom and other settings.
Develop strategies to correct undesirable behavior and works diligently to ensure students don’t fall behind with their academic assignments.
Delivers training to students about success in college.
Provides proactive academic and behavioral support to students in the classroom and other settings to help them engage in appropriate behaviors.
Coordinates disciplinary actions when necessary.
Supports the instructional assistants, ensuring the duties are carried out for classroom and office hours, and providing feedback.
Develops effective strategies for students to be successful.
Practicum Planning and Job Coaching Implementation
Assists the Practicum coordinator in creating new partnerships for practicum sites.
Collaborate with practicum coordinator in developing goal settings for students and, developing, and identifying programs to meet the future training needs.
Assists the Practicum coordinator with observation visits and meetings, and workshops.
Leads in the implementation of training program activities and job coaching.
Evaluates the ACHIEVE training program.
Assists with coordination and deliberation of Open Houses and other informational sessions.
Participates in admission review and decisions.
Responds to inquiries regarding ACHIEVE program offerings and helps with program communications and marketing.
Compiles statistics and maintains program records and databases.
Attends conferences and transition fairs locally and abroad.

Aggie ACHIEVE at Texas A&M University is a four-year comprehensive transition program (CTP) for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who have exited high school. Aggie ACHIEVE provides an inclusive and immersive college education and equips students for employment in the community. Aggie ACHIEVE aligns coursework, internship opportunities, and extracurricular activities with each student’s academic interests and employment goals. Aggie ACHIEVE students reside in Texas A&M residence halls and have access to all campus-related activities. Aggie ACHIEVE is the first and only CTP in the State of Texas.
