Position Summary

Our research program investigates the pulmonary host immune response to bacterial infection (primarily Streptococcus pneumoniae). We have two lines of investigation, both supported by mouse models and in vitro systems. The first explores how actin cytoskeletal elements support cell motility, phagocytosis, and integrin-based mechanotransduction to NLRP3 inflammasome activation. The second analyzes a non-canonical function of the mitochondrial enzyme Co-enzyme Q6 in regulating the cellular balance between OXPHOS and glycolysis at homeostasis and in response to inflammation. We have substantial unpublished, preliminary data to support multiple clinically relevant projects through either line of investigation. Although we have recently focused on macrophage biology, we have expertise and can support anyone interested in lymphocyte biology. We invest deeply in the team and prioritize the personal and professional growth of those who work with us.

This job is a full-time “wet lab” or bench research position. Mouse handling will be required.
