The Role

As a Trade Compliance Analyst, you will play an important role in maintaining the Company’s compliance program. This role will provide specialized support by maintaining, implementing, improving, and reviewing various corporate matters, initially requiring some guidance and direction, with reduced levels of supervision as experience grows.

Your Impact

  • Provides specialized support in the development and maintenance of various corporate matters including:
    • Training Program Support: maintaining training materials in the Global Learning Center, scheduling training sessions and maintaining the training calendar, keeping the training catalogue up to date, and managing training metrics
    • Customs Support: maintaining regional import and drawback bonds, maintaining powers of attorneys, performing trade account owner duties in ACE, managing the collection and maintaining of business unit brokerage SOP’s and FPPI and WA documents
    • Overall ITC Program support: developing and implementing Emerson standards, facilitating import and export activities at Emerson, site visits and audits, compliance guidance to divisions in escalated issues, third party/ restricted party screening management
    • Oversee special export compliance programs such as Embargoes and Sanctions, Military/ITAR, Technology, Software/Encryption, Cloud Computing, Nuclear, Classifications, Deemed and Routed Exports
    • Oversee special import compliance programs such as Free Trade Agreements, Bonded Operations, Royalties, Drawback/Suspension, Paperless Clearances, Classifications and Valuation
    • Oversee supply chain security compliance programs such as Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) (e.g., Europe, Mexico, Gulf Cooperation Council) and Partners in Protection (PIP)
    • Participate on other functions teams – ie. brokerage mode team
  • Collects data to review procedures and generates reports to address deficiencies in applicable programs;
  • Performs primary development of technical processes for the applicable Legal team, including automating manual processes and digitizing physical tasks;
  • Works with support resources to ensure that all applicable systems are monitored and performing as expected, escalating issues where necessary;
  • Coordinates or performs administrative functions necessary to publish and deliver training programs;
  • Performs special projects as assigned by the applicable Legal team, including focused legal research;
  • Ensures that applicable system implementations satisfy Emerson requirements for internal controls;
  • Assists applicable teams on clarifications of policies;
  • Organizes files and general work processes to maximize the efficiency and productivity of assigned regions and/or business groups
  • Advances strategic improvement opportunities and other tasks as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years of experience in a corporate legal or compliance environment
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to the software industry
  • Excellent research, analytical, and English language skills
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Advanced MS Office skills
