As our next Toolroom & Facilities Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of leading Toolroom operations and facility infrastructure management within a high‑volume powdered‑metal manufacturing environment. Your expertise in tooling lifecycle management, facilities maintenance, capital planning, regulatory compliance, and leadership of skilled trades will be critical in ensuring operational reliability, safety, and long‑term capability for the plant.
• Lead Toolroom operations, including tool manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and inspection.
• Ensure tooling availability supports forming and finishing production requirements.
• Oversee tooling lifecycle management: new tool launches, replacements, PM plans, and breakage reduction.
• Participate in quoting and feasibility reviews (tool concepts, cost, timing, risk).
• Manage supplier relationships to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
• Improve in‑house tooling processes and capabilities.
• Ensure tooling meets internal and customer quality standards.
• Manage building systems: HVAC, compressors, utilities, roof, grounds, facility services.
• Oversee contractors and service providers for repairs, upgrades, and capital improvements.
• Lead and execute facility capital projects within safety, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Support layout changes, equipment installations, and process‑flow improvements.
• Maintain compliance with safety regulations, lockout requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Lead, coach, and develop Toolroom and Facilities personnel.
• Support skills development, training, and succession planning.
• Set goals, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with business objectives.
• Address performance, resource, and employee relations issues effectively.
• Identify cost savings, productivity improvements, and reliability enhancements.
• Support CI projects for uptime, tool life, maintainability, and energy efficiency.
• Track hours, costs, tooling spend, and project deliverables accurately.
• Participate in capital budgeting, forecasting, and business‑case development.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and EHS requirements.
• Maintain documentation, maintenance records, and tooling control plans.
• Support audits and corrective actions related to tooling, maintenance, and facilities.
• Embed safe work practices into all activities.
• Post‑secondary Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
• Skilled‑trade certifications (Millwright, Tool & Die, Machinist, HVAC, Gas Fitter) are strong assets.
• 7+ years of progressive manufacturing experience (automotive or powdered‑metal preferred).
• 3+ years leading technical or skilled‑trades teams.
• Strong knowledge of tooling systems, mechanical equipment, facility systems, and industrial maintenance.
• Experience managing capital projects, contractors, and external suppliers.
• Demonstrated experience with ISO/IATF/EHS standards.
• Strong technical problem‑solving skills and decision‑making ability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational and project‑management capability.
• Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
• People‑oriented leadership with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Experience developing in‑house tooling capabilities.
• Background in energy‑efficiency or facility‑optimization initiatives.
• Advanced experience reviewing tooling feasibility, cost models, or tooling risk analysis.
