As a Title Specialist, you’ll be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of vehicle title and registration processing. This role is ideal for a seasoned dealer DMV administrator. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in title processing, capable of handling high-volume transactions, multi-state deals, and serves as a key compliance authority within the organization.

What you’ll do

  • Manage end-to-end processing of all vehicle titles and registrations in compliance with federal regulations
  • Review and audit deal jackets for accuracy, completeness, and legal compliance prior to submission
  • Manage complex title situations, including Out-of-state transfers, title corrections and reassignments, lien processing and releases and escalated or rejected title work
  • Serve as internal expert on title compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure all submissions are completed accurately and within required timelines
  • Maintain strong working relationships with state agencies, lenders, and third-party vendors
  • Track title status and proactively resolve discrepancies, rejections, or missing documentation
  • Oversee lien payoffs and ensure proper title release and documentation
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready records in both digital and physical formats
  • Assist with reconciliation of title-related financials in coordination with the accounting team
  • Stay current on changes to DMV regulations and industry best practices
  • Support process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors

This might describe you

  • Strong experience in automotive title processing experience in a dealership or DMV environment
  • Deep knowledge of title laws, registration procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Proven experience handling high-volume and complex transactions
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable interacting directly with clients
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet strict deadlines, and work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams and external agencies

Over and above

  • Experience with multi-state title processing and electronic title systems

Other things to note

  • Ideal candidates would be located in the Detroit Metropolitan area working from the office three days per week and two days remotely.
  • May require travel for quarterly events.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
