**This position is based out of Neil Reid High School in Clinton Township during the school year and Macomb County Community Mental Health Children's during the summer months and/or school vacations.

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt - overtime pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement or Human Resources and Labor Relations Policy

EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period

CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position currently varies

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under direction, provides assessments, linkage, and referrals to children in enrolled in Macomb County schools.  Maintains direct and indirect clinical and administrative records, coordinates, consults, and provides liaison work with other agencies and system. Therapist will also be a member of the school team and will assist with the development and implementation of an appropriate coordinated plan of care to provide behavioral health support and services to general education children.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Completes necessary documentation such as, assessments, treatment plans, transition plans, and crisis plans.  Collects and provides necessary data to MISD coordinator.

Works as a team member within the school and provided support and training to school personnel as needed.

Works with the child/family to obtain needed resources within the community and makes all necessary referrals. 

Participates in agency and system-wide staff meetings and mandatory trainings. Participates in supervision as scheduled.

Performs indirect clinical services, including, case-managed therapy, crisis intervention, timely and complete case documentation following MCCMH policies and procedures; confirms diagnosis to make the most suitable, least restrictive and medically necessary clinical recommendations; and assists client and/or family in obtaining appropriate programs and resources.

Maintains clinical documentation accurate and up-to-date, including, assessments, progress notes, crisis/safety plans, and other required documentation.

Conducts thorough, accurate, and clinically sound triage/screening with consumer/guardian/family members in a timely manner.

Requests appropriate authorizations for services provided; monitors utilization of services; requests re-authorizations or continuations as appropriate.

May supervise the work of department interns.

Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Doctorate in Psychology or a directly related mental health field from an accredited college or university

  • Two (2) years or more of clinical experience working with children and families in a mental health setting

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in the assessment and treatment of children, including, but not limited to juvenile justice population, SED children, and IDD children

Required Licenses or Certifications

  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Limited Licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC), Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP), or Licensed Psychologist (LP)

  • Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines

  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
