Job Description:
This position is for a Principal Design Engineer. If you enjoy working and leading hands-on multidiscipline teams, the Test Solutions Engineering Center (TSEC) is interested in hearing from you.

The Test Solutions (TS) Effectors Center within the Hardware Engineering Discipline is a multi-discipline organization responsible for developing Production and Engineering test equipment solutions for all Raytheon products. We are hands-on designers using the latest technology and tools and integrating state-of-the-art software solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world.  TS products are in engineering labs, in the field, and in factories and production testing environments utilized for testing weapon system products. TS has job opportunities across all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including demonstrations, early engineering tests, design verification tests, production, and post-production sustainment.

This role is seeking an experienced design engineer that will be the Test Solutions technical leader for their project guiding teams to develop technical solutions associated with the development and implementation of a wide range of test products. Typical work involves defining platforms to meet the program or portfolio’s needs, designing interface assemblies, selection and integration with test instruments and environments, to develop a test system for all Raytheon products.  These core activities may be performed for both lab engineering and factory production test systems.  The candidate will contribute to the completion of all stages of test product development and will be responsible for helping to maintain the technical, cost and schedule aspects of their assigned projects.

What You Will Do:

  • Act as a program technical leader and/or subject matter expert, to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of test products 

  • Define, design, develop, and integrate Raytheon test products within Test Solutions Effectors Center multidiscipline engineering teams

  • Lead team members to develop both engineering and production test systems, test interface adapters, cabling, technical drawing creation, schematic creation, circuit design and analysis

  • Drive the completion of all stages of test product development, and responsible for performing technical, cost and schedule management of assigned projects

  • Working closely with the Test Equipment IPT Leader to define tasking and generate schedule for teams to achieve.  

  • Identifying risks and forming mitigation plans to maintain technical execution.

  • Creating progress/status reports and presenting to Program stakeholders.  

  • Mentor junior engineers

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience with test equipment design, with the ability to troubleshoot, perform analysis, and execute integration testing in a multidiscipline environment

  • Experience and working knowledge of developmental test processes, test set-ups and integration, test equipment design with transition to the factory, and verification / validation of product hardware using proven test systems, methodologies, and techniques

  • Experience with developing and leading test equipment design including development and enforcement of process standards, developing interface test adapters and external stimulus, integrating wholistic test solutions

  • Experience leading a technical team comprised of multiple reports

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Experience following established design guidelines and best practices aligned to the TEE One Page Process

  • Experience performing analog, digital, and/or RF design

  • Experience designing, testing, and integrating digital, mixed signal, and electrical system interconnect

  • Experience utilizing integrated development environments and debugging tools to troubleshoot software

  • Proficient technical writing and formal presentation experience

  • Project management experience

  • Experience with developing and implementing programming languages

  • Experience with Raytheon projects, programs or systems to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
