Job Description

The Opportunity

The Aerospace Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) – Daytona Beach invites applications for one, or possibly more, open rank tenure-track faculty positions. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a related field. Applicants in all areas of aerospace engineering will be considered. The Department seeks candidates who can expand its research expertise in aerospace engineering, as well as deliver student-centered teaching and provide mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students.  The Department is particularly interested in candidates who would be able to collaborate with one or more ERAU research centers, which include the Boeing Center for Aviation and Aerospace Safety (BCAAS), the Center for Space and Atmospheric Research (CSAR), and the Center for Aerospace Resilient Systems (CARS). 

About the Department of Aerospace Engineering

The Department of Aerospace Engineering, the largest in the nation with an enrollment of over 2300 students, offers Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. degrees, including 71 students in our PhD program.  The undergraduate program is currently ranked #4 and the graduate program is ranked #28 by U.S. News and World Report.  To achieve national prominence, the Department has launched an ambitious agenda focused on expanding the graduate programs, facilities, recruiting talented faculty, and building research infrastructure and capabilities.  In support of this agenda, the University has invested in a new 50,000 square foot engineering building, the John Mica Engineering and Aerospace Innovation Complex (MicaPlex), housing several research laboratories (https://erau.edu/research-park/micaplex/labs), a state-of-the-art subsonic wind tunnel (https://daytonabeach.erau.edu/about/labs/wind-tunnel-facility), and the Eagle Flight Research Center facility (https://daytonabeach.erau.edu/about/labs/eagle-flight-research).  These all serve as part of a Research Park with incubator space and growing number of industry, creating an eco-system to support innovation and entrepreneurship. Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a terminal degree in engineering, with preference given to those candidates who hold a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering.
