Telecommunication Technician

SUMMARY

Assists in all phases of the evaluation, selection, purchase, installation, configuration, and maintenance of the telecommunication systems including voice, data, and video. Is a technical assistant to the Information Services and Technology department by providing level II assistance to the Deployment & Site Support team and Help Desk. Assists the Telecommunication Engineer/Analysts with system configurations and implementations on supported voicemail technologies.

STATUS: Full-Time 40 hours a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides level II support in assisting the Deployment & Site Support team in telecommunication installations, maintenance, and reported problems. Assists the Telecommunication Engineer/Analysts in the preparation of telecommunication hardware and software configurations based on customer requirements. Documents all calls and status information in the task tracking system. Escalates service calls as required and assists team members in the final resolution.
  • Assists in the preparation of cost estimates including initial purchase and lease costs, maintenance costs, supplied costs, as well as any other costs having an impact on operating or capital budgets.
  • Provides telecommunication technical assistance and recommendations on projects requested by the customer. Completes cross connects to cable plant in regards to move, add, and change requests. Oversees installation of voice cabling and drops in new and existing areas of the affiliates.
  • •Assists in ordering, inventory control, and the return process for telecommunication equipment as well as the sale of decommissioned equipment.
  • •Monitors and documents the status and performance of various telecommunication systems and networks.
  • Schedules preventive maintenance of telecommunication equipment and assists in performing system backups of PBX and CDR databases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

L - Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly; requires occasional walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
