Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Associate Telecom Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to assist in supervising telecommunications and ITS construction activities
Telecom Engineer (Junior / Graduate Level) – UAE National
(ITS & Telecommunications Systems)
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Junior Telecom Engineer supports telecommunications and ITS contractor supervision during construction under the guidance of senior engineers. The role is designed to develop hands-on experience in telecom systems design review, site supervision, testing, commissioning, and technical documentation across infrastructure projects in the UAE.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support review of telecommunications designs, calculations, and contractor submittals (FSDDs, shop drawings, method statements, and test plans) under senior engineer supervision.
- Participate in site inspections for telecom ducting, fiber optic cabling, cabinets, telecom rooms, and associated civil and power works.
- Assist in witnessing installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of active and passive telecom systems including fiber optic networks, data, voice, and video systems.
- Support preparation and maintenance of technical documentation, site records, photographs, and coordination with CAD and documentation teams.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE (ENTRY-LEVEL EXPECTATIONS)
- Basic understanding of telecommunications principles and structured cabling systems.
- Basic understanding of ELV systems, specially CCTV camera’s networks.
- Introductory knowledge of fiber optic networks (OSP/ISP) and basic testing concepts such as continuity and OTDR fundamentals.
- Awareness of telecom active equipment (switches, routers) and basic IP networking concepts is an advantage.
- Familiarity with applicable international standards and awareness of UAE authority requirements for telecom works.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting and documentation tools.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 0–2 years total experience, including fresh graduates.
- Up to 1 year of relevant exposure to telecom, ITS, ELV, or infrastructure projects (UAE or Gulf experience is an advantage but not mandatory).
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong willingness to learn telecommunications systems and site supervision practices.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and engineering software tools.
- Good communication, coordination, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, engineering procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
