Facility Support/Laboratory operations:

  • Assist in development of validation protocols based upon nature of validation activity (IQ, OQ, PQ, qualification).
  • Conduct testing in support of project/validations, change control as scheduled.
  • Support process engineers, project engineers and quality engineers on validation related projects.
  • Month end reporting as applicable.
  • Maintain chemical lab supplies and equipment; responsible for overall cleanliness and organization of the chemical lab, manages storage and disposal of satellite chemical waste streams.
  • Routinely observe safety precautions and regulations where duties are performed.
  • Participate in safety & 6S audits.
  • Responsible for reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions.
  • Perform residual monomer analysis, standard prep maintenance of HPLC units.

Incoming Raw Material Receiving:

  • Conduct raw material inspections according to written instructions, schedules or priority lists to support timely releases while following methods, procedures, standards, sampling plans and sequences.
  • Testing includes using specifications and various inspections and testing equipment. 
  • Conduct incoming QC chemical analysis on raw materials, including identity testing by FTIR/ATR and wet chemistry techniques.
  • Conduct residual monomer analysis of hydrogels by HPLC to support production.
  • Record results accurately & legibly on appropriate data sheets as designated by the established inspection and sampling plans.
  • Initiate raw material non-conformances and support investigations.
  • Work with Quality Engineer to resolve and close raw material non-conformances.

Experience

  • Technical Chemical Laboratory Technician or related field, with proven experience of 3 or more years in chemical laboratories.
  • Experience in the medical industry is desirable Working knowledge of FTIR, HPLC, pH & conductivity meters, Brookfield viscometer and benchtop LED curing unit.
  • Basic familiarity with Agilent Chem Station HPLC software and Perkin Elmer Spectrum WinIR software.
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of chemical safety & PPE; chemical storage, handling and disposal.
  • Basic SPC skills and statistical sampling methods Ideal Computer Skills: BPCS, Agile, Word, MS Outlook Email, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab English communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory and ISO standards Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions of lab/testing equipment & procedures.
